I, one of the pickiest music snobs ever, absolutely love Lady Gaga. Her music is good, she writes well and she can actually sing. She has written for many artists, including Fergie, The Pussycat Dolls, Britney Spears and New Kids on the Block. And she’s only a year older than I am.
Happy Tuesday everybody! Only one short day in the Emerald City until the next episode of GLEE! And, if you remember correctly, this ep guest stars the amazingly talented, uber precious, emmy-winning Kristin Chenoweth. I’m drooling slightly at the thought.
Anyway, I have a few tidbits for you today, both of which concern music. First off, three new singles have been added to iTunes and are available to download now. One is a cover of Heart’s “Alone” by Matthew Morrison (Will Schuester) and Kristin Chenoweth. It’s phenomenal. The other two–“Maybe This Time” and “Last Name”–are solos by Kristin and are totally fun as well.
The second bit of news is a little bigger. As of yesterday, you can officially pre-order the first GLEE soundtrack, GLEE: The Music, Volume 1. You can do that by clicking right here. There are two different options: you can pre-order the actual CD for $16.99 and you get a GLEE poster or you can order the digital-download version for $12.99. Either way it’s a pretty good deal for a 17-track album. And you better believe that I’m getting a copy. I can’t wait for November 3rd!
GLEE 1.04 “Preggers”
All the single ladies, all the single ladies
Damn. I’m still trying to catch my breath from this week’s episode. While it was a little less singing-heavy than the past three eps, this one made up for it with raw emotion. What other show features dancing football players, middle-age doll collectors and surprise pregnancies? I think you know the answer to that question so just follow the jump 🙂
Today marks the start of a new thing. My GLupdates will bring you the newest and hottest news from the set of GLEE (my newest and most powerful obession). These GLEE Updates aren’t scheduled or structured. Whenever I hear something, I’ll put it up as fast as I can! To kick off this new feature, here’s some MAJOR news.
GLEE has been picked up for a full season! That’s right! Yesterday FOX picked up the back 9 episodes of the musicomedy, upping its first season episode count to a full 22. Can you believe it? I’m pretty shocked, actually. I mean, I know it’s been doing really well and has A HUGE following already, but it’s so damn expensive to produce and episodes can take up to ten days to shoot. I just figured FOX would renew it for a second, 13-episode season. This is so much better. Hopefully you’re as excited as I am…though I’m not quite sure that’s humanly possible.
Also, head over to iTunes right now. “Somebody to Love” and “Taking Chances” were both added to the Glee Cast recording list, bringing the downloadable song list to 11. God I’m not going to have any money by Sweeps Week.
Okay, that’s it for this innagural GLupdate. Stay tuned for future entries and watch GLEE tomorrow night at 8pm Central on FOX!
What your TRW staffers are listening to this week:
I love music. I don’t do anything without it. I live with my earbuds in, and when I’m at work, we have a pretty decent playlist playing in the background.
I think artists should be paid a fair amount for their work, whether it be through physical CD sales or things like iTunes. But I do not think the music industry should overstep like it’s trying very hard to.
Review of GLEE episode 1.03 “Acafellas”
She'll bust the windows outcha car
To quote Christina Aguilera, “And it keeps getting better.” This ep of GLEE brought so much more depth to the series that I think I need a pair of those bright orange floaties your mom made you wear when you were four. Why am I so giddy? Follow the jump and you’ll find out!
